Mathanzima Mweli
Mathanzima Mweli is the acting deputy director-general: curriculum policy monitoring and support responsible for developing curriculum and assessment policy and support, as well as monitoring and evaluating curriculum implementation.He holds a BA in Education, BA Honours, BAdmin Honours in Industrial Relations and Masters of Development and Management. He is studying towards a PhD in Public Administration. He started his career in 1989, teaching Matric Saturday, winter schools and summer schools classes organised by North West University.
Mathanzima Mweli has risen through the ranks in the North West Department of Education. He was chief education specialist in 2000, regional executive manager (chief director) in the southern region, North West in 2002, head of department: North West Department of Education, South Africa in 2005 for five years before moving to the Eastern Cape in July 2010 where he was acting deputy director-general: education planning evaluation and monitoring. In February 2011 he was appointed head of the intervention unit by the Minister of Basic Education.
