Yvonne Chetty

Yvonne Chetty is the chief financial officer at the Department of Energy, a position she has held since December 2010. She holds Bachelor of Accounting Science and BCompt (Hons) degrees from the University of South Africa, and a national diploma in business management from Durban University of Technology. Ms Chetty is responsible for formulating creative solutions to enhance cost-effectiveness and service delivery efficiencies at the Department, and also advises the Director-General on matters that have strategic and financial implications.

Other functions include that of chairperson of the Department’s Bid Adjudication Committee. Ms Chetty’s 20 years’ experience in the financial sector includes serving as senior manager: Finance at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, where she was responsible for all financial, supply chain, and fleet management services for the Gauteng region. She has also worked as business manager in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Witswatersrand.
