Nomfundo (Fundi) Tshazibana

Nomfundo (Fundi) Tshazibana was appointed deputy director-general: Economic Policy Analysis in July 2011. She holds a Master of Commerce post-graduate degree, specialising in Economics, from the University of Natal and is currently studying towards a Master’s in Business leadership with the University of South Africa. After a career in research and policy analysis, including five years in policy development, monitoring and evaluation at the National Electricity Regulator and TNS Research Surveys, Nomfundo (Fundi) Tshazibana joined National Treasury in 2003 as director: Microeconomic Policy Analysis.

Her initial role focused on managing research and analysis to inform micro-economic policy.

She later took over as chief director: Microeconomic Policy Analysis in 2006 and subsequently served as chief director: Regulatory Impact Analysis, which involved developing capacity and capabilities in government to understand and assess the broader economic impacts of government regulations and legislation.
