Charles Kibara
Charles Kibara is a fully qualified accountant, CPA (K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountant (ICPAK) In addition, Charles Kibara has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from University of Nairobi having graduated in December 2007. He has attended numerous professional development and leadership courses in internal control, fraud detection, IT Audit and quality management audits.
With over 13 years’ experience in Finance, internal and external audit, he is currently working as the Head of Internal Audit at Credit Bank PLC.
Before joining Credit Bank, he worked as an internal audit officer at the African Banking Corporation Ltd (ABC Bank) for two years. He has previously worked as an accountant with an Insurance Brokerage firm and with an audit firm, Erastus & Co. Nairobi, between August 2002 and December 2004.
In his internal audit career, he has uncovered and frustrated frauds running to several millions. In 2010, for example, he uncovered and helped prosecute a fraud running to over KES 50 Million. The case is still in court today. He has also introduced a risk-based audit planning system, audit programmes, audit rating of branches and head office and recruited and developed internal audit staff. He is a committed Christian and member of Kenya Anglican Men’s Association (KAMA).
