Umaru H. Modibbo

Mr. Modibbo is a 1983 graduate of Business Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He started his working career with the Gongola State Ministry of Commerce and Industries as a Commercial Officer II (1985). He joined the services of Gongola Investment Company Limited from 1987 – 1991 and rose to become a Senior Investment Executive. In July 1991, he was appointed the General Manager/CEO of Tiddo Securities Limited, a stockbroking firm based in Lagos and a dealing member ofthe Nigerian Stock Exchange. He qualified as a stockbroker and dealing clerk in December 1991 and later became an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. Mr. Modibbo was elected Council member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (March 1994 – April 1997) and served as a member of the Quotations and Disciplinary Committees. He was also a pioneer Director of the Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Limited and served as a member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange Investors Protection Fund under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gamaniel Onosode (The Doyen of the Nigerian Capital Market).

In the public sector, Mr. Modibbo served as a member of the transaction Marketing Committee of the National Council on Privatization. He represented the North East Geo-Political zone in the Federal Government Budget System Review Committee (January – March 2000) Mr. Modibbo has promoted and nurtured several companies including:- Sigma Securities Limited which he headed as the Managing Director/Chief Executive (April 1997 – January 2011), Sigma Properties Limited, Sigma Bureau De Change Limited, Sigma Power Projects, Sigma Inspections Limited and Sigma Pensions Limited. He is the founder and Managing Director of Sigma Pensions Limited. Mr. Modibbo was reappointed as a member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange Investors Protection Fund (2012) under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gamaniel Onosode (the doyen of the Nigerian Capital Market). Mr. Modibbo is happily married with five children.
