Nonkululeko Nyembezi

Qualifications: Master’s in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, a master’s in business administration from the Open University, United Kingdom, and an honours in electrical engineering from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology
Committee Responsibilities: Chairman of the Nominations Committee, Chairman of the Social, Ethics and Transformation Committee, Member of the Remuneration and Acquisitions Committees

Ms Nyembezi has held executive and non-executive corporate positions in a career spanning 30 years across the financial services, mining, IT and telecommunications sectors. She’s currently the independent non-executive chairman of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and a non-executive director of Old Mutual plc. She also serves as chief executive officer of Ichor Coal, an international mining company operating in the South African thermal coal industry.

Prior to these roles, Ms Nyembezi served as the chief officer of mergers and acquisitions for the Vodacom group and chief executive officer of Alliance Capital, the then local subsidiary of a New York-based global investment management company.
