Kutlwelo Poloko Mariri

Kutlwelo Pokolo Mariri has nine years’ experience in speech-language pathology and audiology. Kutlwelo established the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Princess Marina Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Gaborone, Botswana, before venturing into private practice. She is passionate about improving the lives of special needs children, which is why she founded Ambrose Academy, a private school. Ambrose Academy is a pioneer school for children with special needs that will hopefully influence educational policy for special needs children. Kutlwelo is currently the director of the school and serves as a clinician at her private practice. She holds a Bachelor of Speech in Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Limpopo in South Africa. She is passionate about her work and a voice for the voiceless, especially special needs children. She advocates for children with special needs in the media, having appeared on several television programs, such as Molemowakgang and the Breakfast Show, and been featured in several local newspapers. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Kutlwelo will apply her acquired business skills to enhance Ambrose Academy and ensure sustainability of the school.
