Boitumelo Mingie Tau

Dr. Boitumelo Mingie Tau is a public health practitioner, researcher, and clinician with over seven years of clinical and public health programming experience. She currently works at the largest public referral hospital in Botswana. She has also served as a middle manager at the Ministry of Health and Wellness Headquarters, responsible for coordinating national disease surveillance activities. Boitumelo holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine from Charles University in Prague, master’s degree in Global Public Health and Policy from the Queen Mary University of London, and a diploma in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University. Her research interests are in NCDs and social determinants of health interplay. She is currently completing a fellowship training in NCD research. Boitumelo serves as the vice-president of the Botswana Dental Association and executive member of the Botswana HIV Clinicians Society. She is passionate about addressing health inequities through reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly oral diseases in underserved communities. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she wants to integrate oral care in primary health care and continue serving underserved communities.
