Karabo Mathudi Thokwane
Dr. Karabo Thokwane has over nine years of experience in the public health sector. She currently works for Botswana’s Ministry of Health and Wellness and has overall clinical oversight of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), a recent initiative for the government of Botswana. She is responsible for policy development, leadership, advocacy, and administration of EMS as well as the implementation of Pillar Five of the ratified United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety. Dr. Thokwane also volunteers as the medical director at the University of Botswana Resuscitation Training Center. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Dr. Thokwane is motivated to see EMS rolled out nationally and integrated into the healthcare system. She plans to use her acquired skills and networks to enhance her contributions to the healthcare sector.
