Ariane Kampingwe

Ariane Kampingwe

Ariane Kampingwe has over five years of experience working in the field of refugee protection. Currently, she is the Deputy Coordinator in charge of International Protection at the National Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons. She is responsible for coordinating the asylum procedures of over 7000 asylum-seekers and implementing the protection of 42,000 refugees in Burundi. Ariane Kampingwe holds a master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from the Catholic University of Central Africa where she focused on the protection of migrants’ rights. Upon completion of the Washington Fellowship, Ariane plans to work on migrants’ rights and obligations as well as help illiterate migrants, in order for them to stay and live comfortably in Burundi and avoid statelessness.  Ariane was one of 100 Fellows competitively selected to participate in an 8-week internship in the United States following the Mandela Washington Fellowship academic institute.  She interned at Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services in August-September 2014.
