Balkissou Buba (Balky)

Balky has five years’ experience working on indigenous issues and protecting and promoting the rights of minorities in Cameroon. He is the vice national coordinator of Repaleac Cameroon, a network of indigenous and local communities that work for sustainable management of forest ecosystems. His focus is coordinating, designing, implementing, and monitoring activities on land rights, human rights, and environmental protection and managing forest ecosystems. He is also the public relations officer for the Lelewal Foundation, an NGO advocating the rights of indigenous people for which his focus is on sensitization and the media. His working languages are English and French and he holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Yaounde, as well as a diploma in Social Welfare Studies from ENAAS Yaounde. After the Fellowship, he will continue his work in protecting and promoting the rights of indigenous minorities with a focus on lobbying and advocacy.
