Nasteho Ahmed Omar

Nasteho Ahmed Omar is an architect. After several years working for an architecture firm in France, Nasteho Ahmed Omar returned to help build her country, which is experiencing unprecedented urban and economic expansion. She currently works at the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and Environment where she’s a project manager on several urban and design projects associated with international organizations such as the World Bank, UNESCO. She’s involved in a project to include Djibouti’s natural and cultural sites in the World Heritage Site list. Having noticed the lack of initiatives to promote her country’s architectural heritage, Nasteho has become committed to raising awareness of the preservation of old building’s preservation topic in a series of cultural events such as conferences, city tours, and art exhibits. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to keep trying to equip her country with legislation protecting the country’s architectural heritage. Stayed in Africa.
