Rediet Tefera has two and half years of experience as a physician. For the past two years, she worked in a rural hospital. Currently, Rediet is a general practitioner at an international cardiac hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Previously, she was head of an inpatient ward facility and contributed significantly to the delivery of quality health care for admitted patients. She also worked as the chairperson of the death audit committee, which analyzes causes of hospital deaths and provides feedback to the responsible units. Rediet is the co-founder of a community outreach project, which provides health education to mothers and children. In addition, she provided books to rural undergraduate students to promote her vision of education for all people. Rediet has a genuine motivation to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans to reduce the maternal mortality rate and improve women’s quality of life by promoting family planning awareness.
