Gebreala Abraham Gebri
Gebreala Abraham Gebri has over four years’ experience as Assistant Lecturer of Law at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. She has an undergraduate and master’s degree in Law and has been teaching “Gender and the Law” and “Clinical Course on Domestic Violence” since 2012. Enthusiastic about women’s rights issues, Gebreala volunteered for an organization called Network of Ethiopian Women Associations, working on a research titled ‘Assessment of Violence against women in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia” during the summer of 2013. She was also a member of the Haramaya University gender policy preparation team. Gebreala Abraham Gebri currently volunteers at Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association, a local NGO where she engages in providing legal advice and mediation for women. She also engages in community campaign programs. She is an online volunteer for an organization based in Zambia called Safety First for Girls.Gebreala is deeply interested in and offers excellent skills in research, community campaign, training, policy formulation and project management on gender equality and child rights. After attending Mandela Washington Fellowship, Gebreala plans, together with colleagues, to establish an initiative that will work on women empowerment in Ethiopia.
