Abena Tannor has over eight years’ experience as a medical doctor and is a Family Physician Specialist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana. She holds a masters’ degree in Rehabilitation from the St. George’s University of London. She currently leads the first multidisciplinary Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team in Ghana, which educates and improves function, independence, and quality of life of persons with disabilities(PWDs). Abena Yeboaa Tannor is a researcher, a member of the Cochrane Rehabilitation Advisory Board, and volunteers as a consulting physician on the Bisa Health Application software, which connects people to doctors.Abena is passionate about disability advocacy, improving accessibility to comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation, and public education on medical and sexual health issues via media and talk shows. She envisions a society where persons with disabilities are independent and gainfully employed and the general populace is well-informed on medical and sexual health. Abena plans to establish district multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, develop affordable and accessible locally-made assistive devices for PWDs, and expand the public health education scope.
