Suhaila Ahmed Aboud

Suhaila Aboud has over ten years of experience in gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response. Currently, Suhaila is a clinical management of rape (CMR) specialist at the United Nations Population Fund in Kenya, where she is part of a global GBV emergency roving team. She leads the GBV medical response in multiple countries, focusing on delivering a comprehensive survivor-centered GBV intervention that aligns with national policies and international best practices. Suhaila Ahmed Aboud is a co-founder of GenderHealth Africa, a Kenyan organization that focuses on strengthening GBV service delivery across Africa. She volunteers as a CMR trainer, supporting the Kenya Ministry of Health and partner programs. She is also a mentor to young girls and junior professionals who want to pursue health-related careers. Suhaila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling and Psychology and a diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery. She is devoted to ensuring that survivors of GBV have access to justice and quality clinical and psychosocial care. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Suhaila plans to continue building the capacity of health workers and advocating for the sustainable supply of reproductive health and sexual assault evidence collection kits. She also wants to establish a GBV recovery center.
