Julie Wairimu Munyi Ogwapit
Julie Munyi Ogwapit has 10 years’ multi-sector experience leading and working in high performance service delivery teams for award winning organizations in East Africa. She develops mutually beneficial strategic partnerships, manages stakeholder relationships, coordinates complex operational assignments, and develops team capacity as an internal trainer. Julie is an alumna of YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa, where she currently facilitates the Business and Entrepreneurship track and provides technical and small business advisory support to fellow young African entrepreneurs through the practical application of tools such as the Business Model Canvas and Design Driven Innovation. Julie is committed to bridging the soft and life skills gaps in the Kenyan education system, which produces raw graduates who are inadequately equipped for workplace and entrepreneurial success. She believes these are skills that should be developed at the formative level alongside reading, writing and arithmetic. Julie runs Sunshine Babies Mombasa, an online community of parents who aspire to raise their children into impactful global citizens. Upon completion of the fellowship, she plans to develop the community into a physical center to provide character building activities and life, leadership, financial, and soft management skill-based workshops, designed to holistically develop and equip children under 13 for adult life.
