Samuel Douglass Karyah (Sam) is a young Liberian social entrepreneur with over eight years’ practical experience in community empowerment. He presently serves as the executive director of the Liberian
(Africa) Innovation Foundation for Empowerment (LIFE), a hybrid organization that uses integrated community development activities and empowerment interventions. Samuel Douglass Karyah (Sam) co-founded LIFE to mitigate rural poverty and build rural economies through agri-business and his venture has empowered over 1,200 farmers through modern farming practices and agri-business development. He is the 2009 Mission candidate award recipient of the Centre for Women and Children Empowerment, 2010-2013 Action Partner of the Oxfam International Youth Partnerships, and 2014 Africa Social Innovation Award recipient from the IYF/MUBS. At the end of the Fellowship, Samuel hopes to expand agri-business to the 15 counties of Liberia through the empowerment of 10,000 small holder farmers by 2026. He believes this will lead to food security with economic efficiency and social equity.
