Fidele Rakotonjanahary
Fidele Rakotonjanahary is the previous president, and current adviser of YSO-Madagascar, a nonprofit organization. Fidele Rakotonjanahary is responsible for environmental topics and communication of the regional platform of Civil Society in the Southwest of Madagascar. At YSO-Madagascar, he works on the protection and conservation of the environment through sensitization, reforestation, and planting to stabilize dunes and restore the marine ecosystem through the development of aquaculture villagers. Fidele obtained his Master’s degree in Marine Biology and worked for six years as a researcher on fisheries and aquaculture. He currently is a student researcher responsible for Mud Crabs Hatchery Research. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Fish and Fisheries Institute. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Fidele expects to help the fishing and farming community to increase their revenue by developing aquaculture villagers in the Southwest of Madagascar. He hopes to deepen his knowledge on community mobilization and extend his professional network with young leaders across Africa and in the United States. Fidele would like to be a lecturer at the university and continue to work closely with the civil society. Fidele RakotonJanahary is married and the father of two kids.
