Alinane Kilembe
Alinane Brown Kilembe has over three years of experience in the Malawi energy sector. Currently, he is a project development, biomass energy, and scoping study coordinator for the Cogeneration for Africa project by AFREPREN/FWD, where he focuses on identifying African agro-industries to invest in sustainable energy systems as an alternative revenue stream and to contribute to energy savings. Alinane is also a founder of two companies based in Malawi, Green Heat Malawi and Negawatt Energy and Industrial Engineering Works, where the former produces sawdust briquettes and the latter installs sustainable energy systems and energy efficiency measures. He is motivated by the fact that a more developed energy sector leads to the improvement of service delivery and an increase of outputs, which eventually can transform the economy. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Alinane intends to continue with his work of helping manufacturing industries establish their own sustainable initiatives in the energy sector and implementing more energy efficient production processes.
