Joanna Doorghen-Gorden
Joanna Doorghen-Gorden has over seven years of experience in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development. Currently, Joanna is an environment officer at the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development, Disaster and Beach Management for the Republic of Mauritius. She is involved in implementing industrial-waste procedures, coordinating environmental projects, and advising the community on measures to reduce pollution and combat climate change. Joanna Doorghen-Gorden also participates in campaigns and activities to sensitize the public on the importance of protecting the environment. Joanna holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering and a master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Mauritius. She can speak, read, and write in English and French, and she demonstrates good interpersonal skills. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Joanna plans to continue her work in environmental protection, focusing on ways to empower the Mauritian community(Africa) in facing the challenges of climate change.
