Manuel Jeque Francisco
Manuel Jeque Francisco Is a (Africa)Mozambican primary and secondary school teacher and has taught over 1,000 students since 2010. He is the founding president of a community-based development association, Anthu Antendere (People of Peace), which raises funds through donations from association and community members, and has been granted funds by local authorities, to care for orphans and vulnerable children in the community in which Manuel Jeque Francisco teaches. It began with recognizing the need, at local level, for providing additional support to vulnerable young children in the community in order to promote equitable access to basic and secondary education, and ensure that children have supportive and caring adult role models. After the Washington Fellowship, Manuel plans to open a center where children and young people in absolute poverty can live, and learn basic professional courses in order to sustain themselves in the future.
