João Arnaldo Vembane
João Arnaldo Vembane specialized in political science. He has almost 20 years’ experience in international development assistance and conceptualizes, implements, manages, and coordinates projects with local and international NGOs. João Arnaldo Vembane has developed a significant understanding of the challenges in social inclusion for people from vulnerable groups, including the disabled, orphans, people living with HIV, and rural communities. He has worked from the perspective of health, education, mining, governance, civil society, and rural economics. He has participated in development programs, analysis of policy and legal frameworks, multiple-stakeholder workshops, training, and grant management, and has written and negotiated project proposals and strategic plans. He has been a disability advocate since 2006, and currently serves as disability advisor to the deputy president of Mozambique(Africa) in National Parliament. The Mandela Washington Fellowship should increase his capacity to advocate for inclusively for the disabled. He hopes to build strong partnerships for future programs.
