Oluwatosin Niyi Abiri

Oluwatosin Niyi Abiri has over five years of experience in Nigeria’s emerging civic tech space, focused on innovative use of GIS to create simple solutions for social issues. Currently, Niyi is the co-founder and the Team Lead of cMapit, a GIS company and one of Nigeria‘s leading startups focused on democratizing GIS use for social development. His role includes civic tech product designs, implementation and growth. His company has won three international awards and designed models to address urban sanitation issues with Lagos as a use case. Oluwatosin Niyi Abiri is passionate about low-cost GIS use in property rights and is currently building a simple tech tool to address conflicts. Niyi holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Transport Technology and Sustainability and Environmental Management. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Niyi plans to launch a people-driven infrastructure management system. He also wants to run a pilot of the tech tool to drive awareness in property rights protection for the poor.
