Akinwaleola Adebayo Akinlade

Akinlade Akinwaleola has 10 years experience as an oral physician. Currently, he works as a Senior Member of the Maxillofacial Team in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano where the emphasis of his team is to reconstruct and manage conditions of the mouth and face. He is also the founder of Wellness Smiles Foundation, a non-profit organization involved in giving free oral treatment and education to the indigent, vulnerable, and displaced. Akinwaleola Adebayo Akinlade holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Ibadan and is also a member of the National Postgraduate Medical College and the West African Postgraduate Medical College. Akinwaleola is driven to ensure that oral health education reaches all persons in Nigeria within the next decade by championing a strong National Oral Health Policy, hence his decision to opt for the Public Management Track. Upon returning from the Fellowship, Akinwaleola hopes to be able to begin a community participatory mobile oral health service clinic and liaise with policy and decision makers on aspects that would strengthen a National Oral Health Policy in Nigeria while strengthening partnerships with other sectors of the polity to achieve this aim.
