Emmanuel Umoru Haruna
Emmanuel Umoru Haruna has over seven years of experience in socioeconomic policy programming at the federal, state, and local government levels. Currently, Emmanuel Umoru Haruna is a senior economic policy and research analyst at the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, where he designs, formulates, coordinates, and evaluates government plans, policies, and programs. Haruna holds a Bachelor of Science with honors in International Relations and Political Science from the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria and master’s degree in Economic Policy and Development from Korea University in South Korea. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Kobe University in Japan. Emmanuel is driven to address governance issues, such as lack of openness, transparency, and accountability, which hinder Nigeria’s economic growth performance. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Haruna plans to continue his work in the implementation of the 2017-2019 National Action Plan’s commitment to the Open Governance Partnership (OGP), which aims to make governments more open, accountable, and responsive to citizens.
