Balarabe Bilyaminu Ismail

Balarabe Bilyaminu Ismail is an academic with expertise in food safety. He is the developer of ‘Baobab Coffee’. His major professional interest is on ensuring food safety from farm to fork through the collective efforts of government, producers, and consumers. This has become necessary due to the rising cases of foodborne-related diseases in developing countries like Nigeria, leading to high morbidity and mortality. Balarabe Bilyaminu Ismail holds a master’s degree in Food Safety and Quality Management from the University of Greenwich, UK, and membership to four professional bodies. He has five years’ work experience at university and in two food-processing companies. Currently, he is working on a consumer attitude tracker with an emphasis on food safety. Upon completion of his Fellowship, he plans to establish cost-effective ways to raise public awareness on food safety so that cases of foodborne diseases could be reduced to an acceptable level.
