Smash Afrika
Smash is a South African radio presenter on 5fm. Smash Afrika hails from Bloemfontein where his love for radio and multimedia was ignited on campus radio.
After a few years working on campus radio, Smash moved to Johannesburg in 2011, working for a year on Voice of Wits before being recruited by Tholi B to work alongside him as his co-host on YFM’s Afternoon Drive time show from 2012 to 2014.
In 2015, Smash moved on to host his own show at the station, hosting the early breakfast slot from 03:00 to 06:00.
In 2016, Smash Afrika was given the task of entertaining, informing and empowering the Y-ers through radio as host of the prime breakfast slot on GP’s Hottest Frequency, Smash and Grab 06:00 – 09:00
In 2018, Smash Afrika moved to the iconic 5FM radio station as host of Live At Night, weekdays 7-10pm!
And though you may have most recently seen Smash Afrika on Mzansi Magic and Channel O’s hot music show, Massive Music, Smash Afrika’s television career did not begin in 2017 with this. Having shot his first TV show in 2015 called Ground Zero for eTV’s eKasi channel, Smash Afrika smashed his way onto your television screens as host of Ground Zero making dreams come true with this show centering around YFM’s Y-Academy recruits and the station’s search for the face of the brand. The show later aired on eTV.
