Coceko Pakade

Coceko Pakade brings a wealth of strategic management experience from both private and public sectors in terms of effective corporate governance and compliance. Coceko Pakade is the former Director-General of the Department of Social Development (DSD) the post he held from 1 May 2013 (after acting in the post from 1 October 2012) and was responsible for the provision of comprehensive and integrated social interventions aimed at creating an enabling environment for sustainable development.

Coceko Pakade spent twelve (12) years as the Chief Financial Officer (at Deputy Director-General Level) in DSD, the position he occupied from May 2001 until April 2013. He has proven experience in the public sector which stems from his Acting role as the CEO in two different public entities. Being a trained accountant, he has strong compliance background in relation to the Public Finance Management Act No 1 of 1999 (as amended) and is competent in strategy formulation and management, policy formulation, development finance, public finance, business development, stakeholder management, social policy and public administration.

Between July 2009 and May 2011 he was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) which entailed development of a strategy for the implementation of the government’s constitutional mandate for the provision of comprehensive social security with specific focus on social assistance in South Africa.
