Euphonik

A man of many unwavering talents. An avid believer in empowering the youth. The flag bearer for house music in South Africa. Themba Nkosi, better known by his stage name, Euphonik eats, sleeps and breathes music. This South African DJ, music producer, radio presenter and entrepreneur, aims to “put smiles on people’s faces”. Through his unique sound, characterized by upbeat music with elements of house, electro and dance, he has gained a discerning amount of fans spanning five continents.

Euphonik’s understanding and maturity of music came at an early age. Born in Mpumalanga, South Africa, his passion for music was ignited by artists his farther listened to – the likes of The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Stimela and Hugh Masekela. His relationship with music began when he started playing at friends’ birthday parties in his early teens. He went from playing at every birthday in Benoni to gaining residency in Midrand club, Who Zoo, whilst perfecting his mixing and producing techniques. Euphonik first started remixing in 2003 and gained recognition in 2004 when he and South African DJ, DJ Kent joined forces and produced an album together, Kentphonik. It wasn’t long before he started doing mixes on regional radio station, YFM, later being offered his own show on the national radio station, 5FM. Euphonik was signed by record label, Soul Candi in 2006 and landed a highly coveted job doing A&R for the record label.

Euphonik is undoubtedly one of the most successful artists in South Africa with having a gig almost every night of the week across all nine provinces.

Euphonik’s club standing has reached dizzying heights as he continues to build his empire. His prime time weekend radio show on 5FM (My House airs Sundays 19:00 – 22:00), regular mixes on the Roger Goode Show and ‘The Ultimix @ Six’, provide him with the ideal platform for reaching music lovers throughout the country.

Euphonik has received numerous nominations at the South African Music Awards as well as The Metro FM Awards. In 2014 he won his first award – The Metro FM Award for best compilation album for his album, For The Love Of House Volume 5. His name has been included in the Mail & Guardian’s 300 Young South Africans list (A comprehensive and reputable list of people that will shape and define their industries for decades to come).

He has released six albums to date in the; For The Love Of House series: Vol.1, Politics Of Dance, Special Edition, Total Blackout, Vol. 5 and Vol. 6; and has featured extensively on electro and house compilations. A man passionate about investing in the next generation of DJ’s, Euphonik also hosts a highly successful annual workshop for aspiring DJs called DJ101.

Representing South Africa on International soil is what Euphonik does best. From Dubai to Sydney, Cape Town to Miami, London to Toronto and New York City to Johannesburg. He has played at some of the biggest parties and festivals in the world. He’s served on the panel for the electronic music industry’s premier annual conference, The Miami Winter Conference, and was one of the main headlines at the South African Ultra Fest in 2014 and 2015. Absorbing new and hot music trends abroad, transforming it into his own and bringing it back to SA is something Euphonik is passionate about. He has opened for some of the biggest names in the electro music industry including Hardwell, Tiësto, Swedish House Mafia, AVICII, Afrojack, Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Nicky Romero and Martin Garrix.

With over a decade of experience in the broadcasting, producing and DJing, Euphonik is at the heart of the South African music scene. With so many years of industry experience behind his name, he was asked to be a permanent judge on a national television dance show, Step Up or Step Out in 2013 showcasing his knowledge and passion for entertainment. Euphonik also recently founded record label, Eunite, which he intends using as a platform to promote up and coming artists. Euphonik considers himself a “DJpreneur” – A DJ first, and entrepreneur second.
