Judy Jake
Judy-Jake Tsie started her career in stand up comedy at the University of the Wiwatersand in a show called – The Best medicine. She made her big public debut at the “Blacks Only” comedy showcase held at the Sandton Convention Centre back in 2005. She received such great reviews that lead to the growth of her professional profile. She performed in Zambia with four other South African Comedians. The show was held as one of the festivals celebrating their Independence Day. Agais she proved to be an international act to be reckoned with. She was also invited by Levi and SABS to be part of their HIV / Aids campaign.
She has performed around South Africa and has gotten great reviews from both audiences and the media. She performed in Zambia for their celebration of Independence. She was in Boston, Washington and New York in 2007 to spread her comic wings. She has done voice-overs for the cartoon series: Jozi Zoo on E-TV and KFC.
Judy performed at big comedy events (Blacks Only, Comedy Heavy Weights, Arts Alive, etc.) and frequents the comedy club scene in Johannesburg. She has been featured in most of the major South African print media (Fair Lady Magazine, O Magazine, Sunday World, The Citizen, etc.). Her comedy has been played on Khaya FM, Y-FM and Highveld Stereo. She performed at South Africa’s first ever “Lady Fest” with other female artists. She was also invited to perform at the “Women On Women” Festival.
She performed comedy skits on the Phat Joe Show, and was featured on SABC 1’s “Close Up”. Judy was also a featured guest on SABC 2’s Intimate Connections, SABC 1’s Gen-Game and Summer Splash. She made it to the finals of MNET’s stand-up competition, “Survival of the Funniest” on Laugh Out Loud. She beat two other comics at the comedy battle held at the Comedy Heavy Weight Jam.
