Wanda Baloyi

Wanda has followed in the footsteps of her father, Jaco Maria, and has released her own music. Wanda Baloyi proved her talents when she burst into the music industry as the lead singer of an all-girl group called Ghetto Luv.

Following that success, she was offered an opportunity to record her first solo project, voices in 2003 produced by SAMA Award winner and guitar maestro Jimmy Dludlu. The resulting Voices saw her win a KORA Award for Best African Arrangement in 2004 along with two SAMA nominations and a Channel O music video nomination in both 2005 and 2006.

Wanda has had the opportunity to work with and share a stages with many great musicians and bands such as Jimmy Dludlu, M Connection, The Moreira Project, Loading Zone, Hugh Masekela, Mama Miriam Makeba, Themba Mkhize, Mark Fransman, Jaco Maria and many more.

Wanda then took a 3 year break, but is now back in the musical spotlight with her new album titled Love & Life, which marks her new creative approach. She has made use of one other creative for the first time in her career, to put pen to her entire lyric. The experiment involves 10 days of elaborate sharing and learning with singer/song writer, Kabomo to craft all the words that make up the album Love & Life. This has resulted in a blend of Soul, R&B and hip hop.
