Ursula Botha

Ursula Botha is a multifaceted actress, writer, voice over artist, presenter and academic. With an imaginative energy to create, she has a hard work ethic and believes in the power of storytelling based in South Africa.

At the ripe age of 8 Ursula fell in love with the performing arts and thus spent the majority of her school years involved in school plays, Eistedford’s, public speaking and obtaining her SA Guild of Speech and Drama Certificate. Therefore it is no wonder that Ursula progressed to hone her acting skills at the University of Stellenbosch where she graduated with a Degree in BA Dramatic Arts, with specialization in Physical Theatre, TV Journalism and Acting. Ursula then pursued to combine her classical training with screen training; with Honours at AFDA in Live Performance as applied to screen acting.

As an actress Ursula is best known for her role as Meisie in Scandal (etv). Other television roles include Getroud met Rugby (KykNet), Roer Jou Voete (SABC 2) and Covert Affair (SABC 3). Furthermore, Ursula has had several lead roles in commercials and has performed in numerous short films. She is also a voice over artist for multiple radio commercials in both English and Afrikaans.

Ursula has recently graduated with her Masters in social theory of identity construction. Her studies in social construction have led her to believe that people become the stories they tell themselves. Thus she aims to uplift others by claiming their own narratives. During 2016 she presented her research at various International and National Academic conferences with great passion. Since obtaining her Masters she has been teaching drama and film theory at AFDA film school, where Ursula aims to help others develop their own voices and stories.

Ursula is passionate about using drama techniques to uplift others, develop skills and building confidence. This is a field she aims to get to grow in.

In 2016 Ursula’s YouTube channel was selected as one of the Top 15 finalists for the Cell C’s #BreakTheNet competition, by judges Suzelle DIY, Derick Watts and Sunday Blues, Darren “Whacked” Simpson, Ofentse Mwase, Theodora Lee and Moshe Ndiki.

Driven by her curiosity and sense of adventure Ursula has also travelled extensively, especially in her three years working as a stewardess on Luxury Yachts for some of the wealthiest Billionaires and A-list celebs. She is convinced that her time at sea has equipped her to navigate confidently through the choppy streams of life.
