Cathy del Mei
Vibrant and vivacious, Cathy del Mei is an exciting saxophonist with years of experience. From hotel lounges to theatre, and from clubs to corporate functions, Cathy has played for prestigious clients and top-selling shows. Apart from the sax, Cathy del Mei is also a great keyboard player, having played cocktail piano in numerous elite hotels such as the Michelangelo and the Balalaika Hotels.
As a keyboard player and Saxophonist, she has performed in theatre shows such as ’60 Something’, ‘Beatlemania’, ‘The Meatloaf Tribute Show’ and ‘Feeling Groovy’, gaining critical acclaim for her extrovert performances and outstanding sax solos. On The Barnyard Theatre circuit, Cathy has featured in the shows such as ‘Glory Days’ and ‘Natural Woman’.
Cathy has also performed in shows with renowned artistes like PJ Powers and Vicky Sampson as well as having spent two years performing and recording with Duncan Faure (Rabbitt, Bay City Rollers, songwriter for Madonna).
Cathy’s versatility is evident in her ability to team up with dancers, singers and instrumentalists. From laid-back to more hi-tech funkiness, a sincere performance is guaranteed. Cathy Del Mei is highly in-demand for solo ‘cocktail’ sets. She also features in the popular Johannesburg FeverTrio as well as in the eye-pleasing Candy Duo.
Her formal musical qualifications include a 3 year National Diploma in Light Music from Pretoria Technikon and a Certificate in Basic Sound Engineering.(South Africa)
