Sandy Rheeder

Sandy Rheeder is the CIO of Mukuru, one of Africa’s largest remittances-focussed fintech and an enabler of safe, affordable and reliable financial services to underserved communities. She joined the company just over 3 years ago after 16 years in IT consulting for a wide range of Financial Services companies. Sandy graduated from Rhodes University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Business Science (Hons) in Information Systems. She started her consulting career as a business analyst, understanding how systems can really help or hinder an end-user. Before joining Mukuru, she was helping companies translate business goals into IT strategy. Sandy also has experience in making agile work in large organisations, in managing large delivery teams, and as a specialist facilitator for both strategic and design level discussions.

She is passionate about creating technology solutions that really meet customer’s needs; creating simplicity in a usually complicated tech world. Mukuru is a company that embodies this thinking in an African context, providing an essential service for so many people on our continent to send money back home to their loved ones. Sandy is excited to be part of Mukuru’s ongoing journey to use technology as an enabler for innovation and problem-solving.
