Arif Moreno
Arif brings over 15 years of extensive natural resources experience across Southern Africa, in addition to his earlier years of experience in the technical areas of mining engineering in South Africa. Currently, the Manager of Strategy and Strategic Projects in the Anglo American South Africa Executive Office, where his focus spans across the thematic areas of People, Commodity Portfolio, and Innovation. Prior to that, he undertook several roles within the Anglo American Group, which range from developing advocacy strategy on global political and policy issues on climate change, zero carbon transition, circular and hydrogen economies, and emerging technologies – to being the strategic advisor to the CEO of Kumba Iron Ore leading operations with a total of $3.5 billion and 10,700 employees. Earlier in his career, he was part of the strategy consulting business, at the global firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, where his expanse of work focused on the growth and development of the mining, energy, and water consulting practices across Southern Africa.
Arif balances results and passion for longer term and sustainable impact combined with a drive for continuous improvement and learning, clarity of thought, and has the ability to connect with, lead, and influence people. His philosophy in life is to be able to challenge the status quo and push the boundary to what we deem possible to co-create a better world to what we see today.
