Global Mining & Metals Sector Leader Deloitte

Ian is the Deloitte Global Mining and Metals Sector Leader, having worked within mining & metals for over 20 years.  Ian is committed to bringing a stronger voice to the Mining and Metals sector, particularly around the importance of the necessity for Mining and Metals, when actioning the imperatives of climate change and urban population growth.  Climate change of course not only requires additional resources for new infrastructure like wind turbines and renewable energy, but also is driving the need for many minerals in the electrification of our society.  Ian knows that his voice is strongest when combined with the all the voices within the global sector.  These voices need to be telling the amazing stories which occur within our mining and metals community, operations and value chain, each and every day. 

Ian thoroughly enjoys being the Global Lead Client Service Partner for BHP, having worked with BHP since 2003. He is responsible for the overall relationship and partnership that Deloitte enjoys with BHP globally.

With a Business Chemistry personality of integrator, Ian values connection and is skilled at collaborating and bringing valuable ideas together. This complements Ian’s life mantra of being a ‘giver’. For Ian, this holds true whether involved with employment, family, community, or friends.

Within the community, Ian is the Chair of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, a NFP organisation positively influencing the health, eating habits and wellbeing of our Australian school children.
