Irumire Okhumale

Irumire David Okhumale is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Okhumale is responsible for assisting the Executive Director with administering the day-to-day operations of the NBPA. As the Chief Risk Officer, he is responsible for developing and managing the risk management infrastructure of the NBPA. Prior to joining the NBPA, Mr. Okhumale was a Managing Director at FTI Consulting, a multi-billion-dollar United States publicly-traded management advisory company with offices in over 30 countries and 70 cities worldwide. For close to two decades, Mr. Okhumale advised both domestic and international clients on several matters relating to strategy, risk management, operations management, business process improvement, cost optimization and corporate sustainability. Additionally, Mr. Okhumale has served clients in several industries, including Sports & Entertainment, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Consumer Products, Non-profit, Hospitality & Gaming, Manufacturing, Mining, and Oil & Gas industries. Mr. Okhumale also has experience in the private equity field where he was responsible for sourcing and structuring investments in underperforming businesses. In his role, he was part of the management team that developed financial and operational turnaround plans for acquired distressed companies in Africa. Mr. Okhumale holds a BBA (Honors) in Accounting from Howard University and an MBA in Management from the University of Oxford. He is a frequent lecturer on topics related to risk management and corporate sustainability at various institutions in the United States and Africa. He has had speaking engagements sponsored by several institutions including the United Nations Global Compact.
