Dr Raeesa Aboobaker
Dr Raeesa Aboobaker holds a masters degree in homoeopathy from the Durban university of technology.Soon after finishing her studies in November 2011 she started consulting in Umlazi and after a few months of doing so she decided to set up a small 1 room practice on Florida road. She had also got involved a family business investment alongside a food technologist producing meal replacements for the malnourished as well as obese, This is when she initiated Dr Bakers Super slim Weight Loss Clinic. Alternating between Umlazi and Florida Road. Initially she had a client base of around fifty and focused mainly on constitutional homoeopathic treatment and weight loss.
In 2012 she relocated her practice to the A&T medical centre outside the parklands hospital and it was here in 2013 that she had introduced technology in the form of liposuction as well as laser skincare for the treatment of acne and scarring.
In March 2013 she was approached by a community radio station to sponsor the health segment on their breakfast show, the show was a hit with the listeners and gained popularity to such an extent that listeners would park off their vehicles at the side of the road to catch the entire programme.
During the course of May 2013 she was approached by Venus concept – a canadian aesthetics company to introduce its world class award winning technology to her clinic this enabled her to provide her patients with amazing results and included the treatment of cellulite, fat deposits as well as anti-ageing treatments with no downtime. Around the same time she was approached by a German skincare company – Etrebelle to stock its skincare range and after a successful launch tis became the first international skincare brand to arrive on our shelves .
In December 2013 was once again approached by Venus concept to introduce the rest of their technological range in exchange for becoming the key opinion leader in my area.
By March 2014 we had a full fleet of equipment and had by far outgrown our space.
In June 2014 She had decided to produce a recipe book that would assist her patients in making better choices without compromising on flavour. After months of research,cooking, preparing and editing she published her recipe book and called it “skinny delicious”, a recipe book encouraging healthy eating 2000 copied of which have been circulated to date.
As the clinics aesthetic offerings and client base grew
Her business started off small of treating 50 patients to now 3000+ patients in Durban and jhb
She uses to work out of 1 room in umlazi clinic to now working out of her own building which is in a busy street in over port.
She volunteers at a local radio station Al ansaar
She also runs a mediclinic which is doing well
-During floods that occurred in Durban she organised a feed the babies scheme where she provided milk and diapers to mums with infants
