Dr. Boitumelo Ramatsetse
Dr. Boitumelo Ramatsetse is currently a member of the National Planning Commission (NPC) in the Office of the Presidency (Republic of South Africa). In addition, he is a Lecturer & NRF Y-Rated Researcher in the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering at Stellenbosch University (SU) as well as Research & Innovation Associate at the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment, TUT. He has over 10 years of teaching experience in the Higher Education sector. He holds a Doctor of Engineering (D-Eng) degree, Master of Technology (M-Tech) degree in Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) and National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from TUT. He also holds a certificate in Project Management from University of South Africa (UNISA). He is currently an associate member of Southern African Institute of Industrial Engineers (SAIIE), member of Southern African Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMechE) as well as Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM). His research interests include reconfigurable systems, production systems, mineral processing systems, machine design, ranging from theory to design implementation. Dr. Ramatsetse has served at the National Research Foundation (NRF) funding committee for the year 2017 & 2021. He has published fourteen (14) peer-reviewed journal papers, four (4) book chapters and over twenty (20) local and international conference papers since 2013. To date, he has successfully filed three (3) patents in South Africa and China.
Dr. Ramatsetse has been actively involved in numerous interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with research institutions, industries, and government. Through his efforts, he has attracted over R832 800 worth of seed-funding for technology development and commercialisation. He has received over 20 awards and recognitions for his efforts, which includes; Winner 2020/2021 NSTF-South32 TW-Kambule Emerging Researcher award, 2021 Mail & Guardian 200 most influential Young South Africans, 3rd Place Winner GAP Innovation Competition 2020 to name a few.
