Daniel Johannes Vermeulen

Daniel Johannes Vermeulen

Daniel Johannes Vermeulen is a South African rugby player born on 03 July 1986 in Nelspruit. He attended both Nelspruit Primary & High School and later The Rand Afrikaans University a prominent South African institution of higher education and research that served the greater Johannesburg area and surroundings from 1967 to 2004.

A big, ball-carrying loose forward in the mould of the great André Venter, Duane Vermeulen burst onto the scene for the Cheetahs during the 2007 Vodacom Super Rugby series. After moving to Cape Town, he’s been one of the Stormers’ most consistent players. Vermeulen, who has missed out on Springbok selection a couple of times earlier in his career because of untimely injuries, finally made his Test debut in 2012. Depsite being a strong runner and very skillful for a big player, he has shown a propensity for stealing opposition ball on the ground.
