Elaine Sebastian

Elaine Sebastian has been involved in Clinical Research for the last 14 years.

She is a Study Coordinator, Registered Nurse, Midwife ,Psychiatric Nurse and a Registered Intensive Care Nurse. She is a Health Care Manager she obtained a Higher Certificate in Management in 2011.

She has worked as a Study Coordinator and conducted over 30  Phase II,III,IV Clinical Trials in the Oncology and Haematology Unit at the Johannesburg Hospital.  She relocated back to Cape Town and joined the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (Masiphumelele site) in 2006  to conduct the Comprehensive Integrated Programme for Research in AIDS (CIPRA 3B,3C and other Investigator Driven Tuberculosis Clinical Research. Management of a team and training of the team was the responsibility of the Study Coordinator as well as Monitoring and Evaluation of the Research study. She was also involved in the Planning of the Integration of HIV and TB Services in the Masiphumelele Clinic. She was then transferred to the Emavundleni Research Center site in Cross Roads Nyanga in 2011 and became involved in HIV Prevention Studies, HIV Vaccines and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. She is responsible for the overall management of the Studies assigned to her. She coordinates and manages the diverse responsibilities  of the Research Studies. She ensures that all role players are effective and efficient in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures on site.
