Prof Anton Ströh
Prof Anton Ströh was appointed as Vice-Principal: Institutional Planning at the University of Pretoria in 2014. In addition to the portfolios of institutional planning, resource allocation and facilities management, he is also responsible for information technology and security services.
Prof Ströh obtained his BSc degree in 1986 and completed a PhD in Mathematics in 1989.
He joined UP as a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics in 1988 and progressed through the academic ranks up to his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences in 2004. He served two and a half terms as Dean taking responsibility for strategic leadership and the orderly functioning of all academic departments and support functions within this large and diverse faculty.
In his capacity as Dean, he was involved in collaborative agreements on projects with international institutions which involved significant funding from the EU, the Gates Foundation, the African Economics Research Consortium (AERC), CIDA, the African Network for Agriculture, Agroforestry and Natural Resources Education (ANAFE) and Southern African Biochemistry and Informatics for Natural Products (SABINA), to list but a few of the prominent ones. In his capacity as Vice-Principal, Prof Ströh continues to play a key role in establishing partnerships to secure support for University initiatives from external funders.
