Morongoe Ramphele
Ms Morongoe Ramphele was appointed deputy director-general in November 2011. She holds a Master’s degree in Community Development Mental Health and a BA (Hons) in Social sciences from the University of South Africa, together with an advanced diploma in municipal governance from the University of Johannesburg.
Ms Ramphele has worked in the Office of the Premier in Limpopo as senior general manager involved in government-wide monitoring and evaluation, and has served as head of department for the Department of Public Works where she was responsible for stateowned buildings, office accommodation and the coordination of the Expanded Public Works Programme. From 2005 to 2009, she was senior manager and general manager at the Department of Local Government and Housing in Limpopo.
Her professional career also includes serving as a head of department in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality and 14 years’ service as a social worker and chief social worker in the Department of Health and Welfare.
