Abdul-Moomin Gbana
General Secretary Ghana Mineworkers Union
Mr. Abdul-Moomin Gbana is the current General Secretary of the Ghana Mineworkers’ Union, a trade union representing workers in the mining sector of Ghana and affiliated to the Trades Union Congress (Ghana). Until his election as General Secretary in 2020, Mr. Abdul-Moomin Gbana worked as the Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Mineworkers’ Union from October 2015 to December 2020.
Before joining the Ghana Mineworkers’ Union on full-time, he worked as a Senior Geologist with Gold Fields Ghana Limited from 2005 to 2015. Whiles at Gold Fields Ghana Limited, he also served as a part-time trade union officer of the Ghana Mineworkers’ Union in his capacity as Chairperson of the Professional Managerial Staff Union and also as the National Vice Chairperson.
Mr. Abdul-Moomin Gbana holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and a Masters in Industrial and Employment Relations from the University of Turin, Italy.
Mr. Abdul-Moomin is a practicing trade unionist with over a decade experience in industrial and employment relations from both a local and international perspective. His specialities include but not limited to; collective bargaining, and alternative dispute resolution.
