Aklaaq Mahmood

Aklaaq Mahmood has more than 15 years’ experience in the healthcare industry as the Deputy CEO of LA Health Medical and the former Principal Executive Officer of ProSano Medical Scheme. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, earning an MBA, for which he received the dean’s merit award for the highest achievement attained in the strategy component of the programme. Aklaaq has served on the Board, and Audit and Finance committees of Global Health Medical Scheme. He has also been a member of various other committees and forums, including Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the City of Cape Town, and a member of the Risk Committee and Mayoral Performance Evaluation Panel. He currently serves as a director for various subsidiaries and within the Group and is the Chairperson of Medscheme Namibia.
