Amani Katana Karabu is an award winning Social Entrepreneur with over five years of experience in Business Development and Social Entrepreneurship. Currently, Amani is the CEO at Garb Tech, a waste management business focusing on collection, transportation and recycling of solid waste into charcoal briquettes, fertilizer and flower pots. His awards include; Tony Elumelu Foundation Award, African Entrepreneurship Award, US African Development Foundation (USADF) Award, among others. In addition, Amani Katana Karabu is the founder and Executive Director of Youth Empowerment Program Initiative (YEPI), a community based organization focused on empowering youth, women and girls through entrepreneurship, leadership and environmental conservation. Amani is driven by his commitment to reduce the unlawful disposal of solid waste, eradicate youth unemployment and prevent radicalization while at the same time mitigating the effects of global climate change. Upon completion of the fellowship, Amani aspires to empower over 10,000 youth in the next 10 years and use his local and international network to establish a Community Entrepreneurship Hub (CE-Hub) in Mombasa, Kenya. This enterprise will provide an exchange program and give youth and women the necessary support, training and mentorship to scale up their businesses.
