Ameldine Dachiroudine (Amel)
Ameldine Dachiroudine (Amel) has spent three years working as a volunteer nurse at the El-Maarouf National Hospital of Comoros, where he cares primarily for surgical patients, but has a special interest in pediatric deformities. Currently, in consultation with ADFA (an Australian NGO), Amel is working towards setting up the Comoros Club Foot Initiative, a program focused on treating Congenital Talipes Equino Varus, a common childhood foot deformity. Ameldine Dachiroudine (Amel) participates as a University of Comoros student mentor, and works in the community as a public health campaigner, as well in the hospital with visiting NGO missions. Amel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Comoros. After completion of the Washington Fellowship, he plans to promote health and education throughout Comoros, by instituting a screening and treatment program for club foot and an education program to prevent other treatable childhood diseases (such as rickets).
