Amira Abbas
Amira Abbas is a researcher for the Quantum Research Group at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and former research scientist at STANLIB Multi-Manager. She is extremely passionate about science and technology, specifically theoretical physics and artificial intelligence. Her current research focuses on the intersection of quantum mechanics and machine learning theory in order to solve problems that are not possible to compute on a classical computer.
In addition to co-organising the Deep Learning IndabaX and AI Meetups in South Africa, Amira Abbas has launched a startup called LearnML, focusing on machine learning education in Africa. She holds a business science degree in actuarial science, has passed all CFA levels and is pursuing her master’s degree in physics.
