Asmara Novellentia Nicoleen Kaffer

Asmara Kaffer has seven years’ experience as a youth officer at the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service in Namibia. She heads the Youth Development Directorate’s Department of Environmental Education at the Keetmanshoop Multi-Purpose Youth Resource Centre. Previously, she was involved in similar roles with other ministries. She engages her community on environmental topics, gender mainstreaming, and socio-economic development. Asmara Novellentia Nicoleen Kaffer co-founded the Keetmanshoop Youth Initiative; a nonprofit organization focused on socio-economic issues, which consists of and is run by youth. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Asmara wishes to manage a solar energy project with her environmental group.She hopes to see solar energy become the main source of electricity for residents in her town and, eventually, in the entire region. The solar energy project will address not only the environmental issues but also socio-economic issues.
